I've been slowly discovering this new era of jazz over the past year. Here I am crying my eyes out after loving her last album and then finding out that she passed, and so young. 😢 RIP a true original soul, hooe you're up there roaring the heavens to an uprising

I just discovered her on Sirius's Real Jazz and loved baba louie so much I checked her out. So sad she's gone! And she'd been treated for heroin addiction which I suspect affects a lot of the videos I've begun watching of her. Having said that, Keith Richards in his book Life describes his decades long addiction to heroin and it didn't stop him from much, so I wish she'd have either gotten clean or learned to live with it — anything other than stopping! I'm heartbroken.
